Tokyo Tokyo Edo Furin (Wind Chime)

Glass wind chimes have been in Japan since the Edo period, helping us to forget the heat of summer with their refreshing sound. These chimes are particulary special; each one is handmade, so each one has a different sound. The first step is to blow the glass-ball in mid-air using a molten glass pipe. The glass painting is done from the inside. They're called “Edo Furin (wind chime)”and have been developed by Shinohara Wind Chimes Honpo. This beautiful sky-blue wind chime, developed with the cooperation of Shinohara Wind Chimes Honpo and Tokyo Metropolitan Government, symbolizes both the Edo-era traditions and modern-day Tokyo.
