EDO-Tokyo memories Panel

This art panel showcases one of the masterpieces of Hokusai Katsushika, an Edo-period ukiyo-e artist, and a modern Tokyo cityscape.
A new technique is used to print Hokusai’s work on the front of an acrylic plate and a contemporary photograph on the back. Its transparency and depth visually express the overlaps between the two eras.
With the base made from scraps of Japanese laminated wood, this sustainable item balances environmental considerations with traditional aesthetics.
