Daruma (HappyDaruma)
Daruma is a kind of good-luck charm that fulfills people's wishes and is said to have appeared in the Edo period (1603-1868). The eyes are left intentionally blank white, and people paint one or both eyes while making a wish or setting a specific goal. The weight in the bottom means that even if it falls over it pops right back up, showing its never give up attitude.(*Some designs do not have the function.) While the daruma eyebrows and mustaches are normally painted black, the Happy Daruma for success and victory wishes is a special one painted gold. Since they are all handmade there are no two alike, and each modern daruma is full of its own personality. Large (HappyDaruma):9cm / Small (MameHappy):5cm
